Making art is linked with my capacity to feel.

My work attempts to represent the ineffable. For instance, when painting on location I do make reference to the color and composition of the subject, however the defining aspect of the painting is to depict the effect the landscape is having on me. Therefore the intent of painting is to first describe, and then share the experience with the viewer.

Winter is a time for reflection.

The subjects for my Winter Series are objects brought into the studio from out of doors, memories of encounters with the natural world, and dreams. To realize these subjects I paint, or draw with graphite, using the technique of automatism.
